1 hour before I purchased a flight ticket for my son Harry to come home, from America,

for Christmas 2012 in New Zealand, my very generous mother,

decided the entire family are going with her on her last overseas trip abroad.

Brother Craig chose India; his "spiritual home".

There is no place I want to go to less,

but if I want to see my sons Luke and Harry at Christmas,

I have to go.

This blog will tell the tale ...from start to finish.

Will I love India or hate it?

Will I ever go back?

439TH DAY BACK FROM INDIA

“yes”

439 days since the 8th January 2013 when I and my 2 sons arrived back home.

Harry in New York and Luke and I in New Zealand.

well the news is only a week old … we are all going back… I miss it… what can I say!

We all want to go again -except Stewart but we’ll talk him around.

We leave approximately the 20th December 2014 for 3 weeks.

I cannot wait!!! We arrive at Kochi and go south that is all I know at this time.

Craig says “this time it is beaches and lying in the sun.”

I miss the differences and the food and the people. I miss that feeling of being far away from home.

I have found myself telling every Indian person I meet (with an Indian accent) “I went to India!”

Will I ever go back?

216TH DAY BACK FROM INDIA

“yes”

Do you know …..I think about that trip and I imagine that if I went again I would handle it better. Occasionally I catch myself thinking what a beautiful place it would be to live. Am I crazy??! No- I think the residual feelings and thoughts are ……of colour ……and food …..and people who are gracious and sweet and gentle ….even if they live in hardship or squalor.  I think the time has come to start reliving the experience… Watch This Space.

Will I ever go back?

111TH DAY BACK FROM INDIA

“No…but I will remember it fondly… there are other places I wish to visit and I have so little time so ‘No’.”

There are not many days that go past when I do not have a moment’s thought about that trip to India.

Today it seems a dream ago…a fairytale and a moment in someone else’s past.

Did I really go to the magical country with a thousand colours?

Well it is a memory after all. I now do not remember the horrid things… the smells… the heat …..

but I still remember the pollution.

I wish never to see New Zealand’s water ways filled with pollution foam and plastic bottles. I think that a country of so many people could easily make it a mission to clean the streams. And that is all I will say on that matter…. It is not my country and I do not know enough to make any further uneducated comments.
